We Have A New Toy

June 22, 2009 at 5:09 pm (Adventures in Mommy Land, Everyday stuff)

I used to have a Hotsling for Alyssa when she was 2 months old to about November last year. We our grew it. So I figured the stroller would be enough.

Well, we are going camping (or cabining) this weekend and are going for a hike. The trail is rough and I doubt the all-terrain stroller would make it up, and if it does, neither Be, or I want to push it. I astarted looking at hiking backpacks, which we would use maybe 3 times a summer, or a wrap.

I decided on the wrap, which would take up less space. I narrowed it down with the help of a baby-wearing expert (no kidding it is an occupation) to 2. The Mei Tai Baby and the Moby Wrap. I had decided on the Mei Tai, until I thought, I should go look at some carriers in stores. I went to Maternal Instincts, which is a nursing/babywearing store here in Longmont, to look at some. They didn’t carry the Mei Tai’s but they had the Moby’s. Luck was on my side, as the owner happened to has one of each to let me try before I bought one!!! Turned out, the Mei Tai didn’t feel very secure. I could have sworn Alyssa was going to fall out th entire time I had it on. The Moby was amazing though!

My Lesson today. If you are looking for a wrap, go with a Moby. It may be huge, but it is very comfortable and very secure! I LOVE it and so does Alyssa. We plan on trying the back hold when Ben gets home. I can’t do it alone!

This Has Been A Difficult Week

June 12, 2009 at 2:55 pm (Everyday stuff, Stuff close to my heart)

Here is the backstory:

I was contacted a couple of weeks ago asking if I wanted to help make calls to volunteers. I said yes right away. I was hoping to help out with Heavenfest in some way or another.

Fast forward to this week:

I get a message on my phone (because it was dead yet again.) about possible becoming a HR manager for Heavenfest. Tredessa must have a lot of faith in me for suggesting it! I have until Sunday (the 14th) to decide on weither or not to do it. I have been praying what seems like non-stop, reading my bible hoping that God will tell me what to do.

I have always been one to follow unless I had to take the lead. I’m the creative one like my mom. But I feel God telling me to go for it, that I would be great at it, even though I have my doubts. I have been searching verses, and so far these have helped me.

God said: Solomon, I’m pleased that you asked for this. You could have asked to live a long time or to be rich. Or you could have asked for your enemies to be destroyed. Instead, you asked for wisdom to make right decisions. 1 Kings 3:10

We make our own decisions, but the LORD alone determines what happens. Pro 16:33

Because of Christ Jesus, I can take pride in my service for God. Rom 15:17

Each of you has been blessed with one of God’s many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well. 1Pe 4:10

I searched as much as I could through Alyssa’s nap today until I found this one last verse. I feel as if God spoke it straight to me.

What you are doing is much more than a service that supplies God’s people with what they need. It is something that will make many others thank God. The way in which you have proved yourselves by this service will bring honor and praise to God. You believed the message about Christ, and you obeyed it by sharing generously with God’s people and with everyone else. 2Co 9:12-13

After reading that, I knew what I needed to do. I’m going to take the HR manager position. I feel like God has it in his plans for me and He knows I will thrive.

“And So The Lion Fell In Love With The Lamb…”

May 28, 2009 at 11:42 am (Everyday stuff)

I saw Twilight a little over a month ago and loved it. I said that as soon as I finished Boneman’s Daughters that I would go get the books and have at them.

Well I bought Twilight yesterday and started reading it once Alyssa went to bed. It is SO much better than the movie! At the moment I am almost done with it and will probally go buy New Moon tomorrow!

Romance and vampires. Can my reading get any better?

It’s Official

May 14, 2009 at 11:58 am (Everyday stuff, stuff that urks me)

I’m making a No Soliciting sign for my door.

Some moron in our complex keeps leting them in and I’m SICK of it!! There are No Solicitiong signs outside the building, but I guess no one sees them or has selective vision. I have had 4, yes 4 CU students selling magazines come to my door in the past 2 hours. These were the SAME kids that came last week and the week before.

I am having fun leading them on. Asking as many questions as possible and right as they think they made a sell, I’ll tell them “You know, I have better things to spend my money on. My Daughter could use something with that money.” It makes them SO mad, but thats what they get for ignoring the No Soliciting signs!

Alyssa Is One!

April 26, 2009 at 3:58 pm (Adventures in Mommy Land, Alyssa, Everyday stuff, People in My Life, Stuff close to my heart, haha moments)

Alyssa is going to be one on Thurday. How did this year go by so fast? I could swear that I just brought her home, that she just learned to smile, or even that she just started crawling. The time just flew by. Now she is a babbling, 3 toothed (she just cut #3 today), starting to try to walk toddler. I miss my cuddly newborn!

We had her birthday party yesterday, and it turned out wonderfuly. My lovely friend Jeanie made the cakes (yes 2 of them. A butterfly for Ally and a stached cake for everyone else) and they were so cute I didn’t want to cut them. Kaela came ready with her camera to take some pics that I can’t wait to see.

And because it was SO funny when we saw it. Alyssa put a bear in the subwoofer of my mom and dad’s stereo.

Happy Birthday Alyssa! Your Mama and Dada love you so much!

Uh, What A Bad Day.

April 17, 2009 at 3:53 pm (Everyday stuff, stuff that urks me)

We needed groceries and up here in Longmont, the rain wasn’t that bad. I go to Walmart, and everything goes well for once until I go to check out. Not only did I get into the slow lane, but the cashier didn’t know what she was doing. When my receipt went to print, the register asked for her to “insert document, press clear” meaning put a piece of paper into the printer and it will print a duplicate receipt. She kept telling me to rescan my card. Um…… NO! I’m not getting charged $300 twice. She calls a manager over to deal with me, only for the manager to look at her like she was an idiot and told her to put paper into printer.

I got out of the store, and the rain has started freezing into little ice balls, that hurt like hell as you are walking into them. I rushed and got Ally into her seat and the groceries into the car.

I get home and the glass hatch on my Rodeo decided it wanted to fall on my head while I was getting the bags out of the car. I have a HUGE knot on my forehead and a 1/4 long cut on the bridge of my nose right between my eyes. I took these about half an hour ago, the lump is a nice purple now.

The plus is that I bought Ted Dekker’s BoneMan’s Daughters today. I’m stoked to read it!
